National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has said that Pakistan Day reminds us of the dream of Allama Iqbal, the consistent efforts and hard work of Quaid-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the Muslims of the subcontinent that strengthened the struggle for a separate homeland in which Muslims can live with dignity, peace and follow their own beliefs. He expressed these views on the eve of Pakistan Day.
He said that Lahore resolution paved the way for creation of an independent Muslim state that came into being as a result of massive struggle and sacrifices that resulted in creation of an independent country for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
Pakistan Day is celebrated to pay tribute to untiring efforts made by Quaid-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and sacrifices rendered by our forefathers, the speaker said.
While talking about the essence of independence, the speaker remarked that great nations never forget their history. It is time for us to contribute to the progress of the country with full determination so we can lead our nation towards social and economic stability. This day reminds us that we have a collective and individual responsibility to work for the uplift of our country and shine as a nation with glory and prosperity, he said.
Referring to the Quaid’s vision for an inclusive democracy, he appreciated the contributions of minorities in the development of Pakistan. He stressed the need for equal development of all segments of the society.
