Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid has said democratic governments always follow the law and in case judiciary orders to bring former President Pervez Musharraf back through Interpol, the government will obey.

Speaking with a private TV channel, he said the law of the land will take its course if any accused does not appear before the court.

He said Pervez Musharraf has been summoned by Special Court on March 31 and obviously, the law will take its course if he does not appear.

Pervaiz Rashid said an elected prime minister was arrested illegally on October 12, 1999, and people of the country were not informed until 40 days about whereabouts of their Premier.

Replying to another query, the Minister said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was impressed with Musharraf as the latter had prayed for him to become prime minister.

Rejecting statement of Imran Khan regarding another National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), he said, PTI should discuss the issue in parliament.

Meanwhile talking to newsmen in Islamabad today after inaugurating a photographic exhibition on Pakistan Movement along with paintings and sketches displaying the culture, society, people and landscape of Pakistan, the Minister said there is no discrimination in the country on the basis of gender, race, or language.

He said all Pakistanis are enjoying equal rights.

Pervaiz Rashid said the world has recognized the steps taken by Pakistan to eliminate terrorism for peace in the region and the world. He appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and the people in the war on terror.

  1. Why should the judiciary reverse its own ruling? Let the Judiciary decide on its other pending issues instead !

  2. We all remember the statement of this lacklusture disinformation minister when he made the statement, " we are with the Daleel and not the Gulail". Even a child knows why his preference is for the Daleel? The Deleel is busy minting billions through massive kickbacks from showcase projects, while the Ghulail to which Musharaf belonged is daily secrificing soldiers lives ridding the country of terror, terror financing, kidnapping for ranson, land grabbing and target killings.

  3. Dear information minister. It is time to move on. Musharraf is now confined to dustbin of history. You should now focus on the present rather than than the past. There are no equal rights for every citizen in Pakistan. We appreciate the Govt. of the day is doing the right things through a pliant judiciary but this happens all over the world. The judiciary was pliant under Musharraf too. It was only later on it woke up.
