Members of a think-tank from China and Pakistan will meet in August at Karamay in Xinjiang to review progress on ‘one road one belt’ with special reference to the CPEC project.

Overseas representatives including those from Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar and Germany will also attend the think-tank forum. Keynote speakers will be from China, Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

The forum will focus on promoting the belt and road initiative and working towards regional cooperation and industry development. There will be sub-forums as well to focus on infrastructure construction, energy cooperation and development, the information industry, industrial parks, manufacturing, medicine and food, living environments, culture, education and employment.

“We believe that the forum will become the Davos of western China with our joint efforts,” said Chen Xinfa, Karamay’s Party Chief, while addressing the scholars from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

It may be mentioned here that the first-ever such event on CPEC was held last year that was jointly hosted by Xinjiang provincial government and China Pakistan think tank in Karamay of  Xinjiang region which is the entry point for the CPEC.

The think-tank forum of the CPEC was very successful as it brought together for the first time parliamentarians from major political parties and all the provinces of Pakistan, policy makers, journalists and heads of important national organisation to discuss the issues relating to this mega project.
