Cellular services were suspended in parts of Islamabad on Monday for Pakistan Day parade rehearsal.
Mobile phone networks went offline early morning and will be restored by noon, according to reports.
Stringent security measures are in place in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to avoid any untoward incident on the National Day, March 23. Rangers and police have enhanced patrolling as a dress rehearsal is currently underway.
Special traffic arrangements have also been made to facilitate the citizens on the parade day.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Shoaib Khurram Jahanbaz, in a press release, said that traffic would not be allowed to pass from the Faizabad flyover.
According to the plan, the traffic going to Islamabad would be diverted towards Stadium Road from Nawaz Sharif Park. The traffic would go to 9th Avenue after crossing the IJP Road. The traffic coming from Islamabad to Rawalpindi would not be allowed to use the Stadium Road.
The traffic from Islamabad would use IJP Road and would be able to enter Rawalpindi from Carriage Factory point.
The traffic coming going towards Islamabad Expressway from Koral Chowk would be diverted towards a service road at Khanna Pul. The traffic would go to Murree Road passing through Shamsabad. It would further use the Stadium Road to enter Islamabad.
The CTO has asked the Motorway Police and the National Highways Police from letting heavy traffic enter Rawalpindi from Attock, from Lahore, and from Murree on March 23.
The CTO has also deputed 424 traffic wards besides 43 junior traffic wardens, 16 traffic inspectors, and six traffic deputy superintendents of police for keeping the traffic flow smooth on March 23. Senior Traffic Officer Iftikharul Haq will supervise the special duties on the National Day.

No shame in that loss. Blooded young players who played well. Great to watch the RTE panel without that fool George Hook. They're analysing the match rather than huffing and puffing and being controversial for the sake of it. Refreshing.
I think it was a good decision taken by the government of Pakistan to suspend mobile phone service on Pakistan Day parade rehearsal. I appreciate their idea to prevent any unwanted events and also thankful to them. Special traffic arrangement is also a wise step taken by them. Thank you so much for sharing.
