Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has asked the PESCO authorities to ensure full utilization of the electricity quota and control load shedding in the province.
He said this while attending a briefing on electricity utilization and other problems in the PESCO headquarters in Peshawar. Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaiser, Minister for Local Government Inayatullah, Chairman Strategic Support Unit, Sahibzada Saeed, Secretary Energy & Power Naveed Khan, Chairman PESCO Board, Engr. Malik Asad, Chief Executive PESCO Anwarul Haq Yousafzai and others were present on the occasion.
PESCO authorities briefed the CM about electricity utilization, problems faced in controlling illegal use of power and steps being taken for rectification of the system.
The CM while expressing grave concern over unscheduled load shedding in province termed it as injustice with the people. He directed the PESCO authorities for efficient utilization 13.5% allocated quota of electricity of the province in efficient manner. He assured the PESCO high ups of full cooperation of the provincial government in controlling illegal connections and ensuring recovery to get rid of load shedding. The CM also directed to formulate committees on district level to check irregularities in power distribution and speed up the recovery system.
He also advised to launch a joint awareness campaign with PESCO for judicious utilization of electricity. The chief minister asked PESCO authorities to take action again PESCO staff involved in irregularities. On this occasion a schedule was framed for curtailing load shedding. It was decided that there would be no load shedding in circles where recovery rate was more than 70%. PESCO authorities agreed on installing monitoring system showing real time generation and utilization of electricity in provincial secretary for energy office to share data with KP government. The CM was told that open trading system was being adopted to remove irregularities and delay in repair of out of order transformers.
