Head of Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs, Maryam Aurangzeb said the resolution for paying tribute to SOC, was a step forward to encourage women, who are working for the rights of the oppressed segments of this society.

She said some times, reconciliation among both parties is cited to wind up cases of honour killing, so culprits are not brought to book. Awareness and implementation of the honour killing law would ensure that culprits are awarded punishment in reported cases.
