A man axed his wife to death for opposing his second marriage and fled after committing the crime here on Friday.
Police said that the accused, hailing from Gala Pur area of district Sargodha, was planning a second marriage but his first wife was strongly opposing his decision.
In a bid to get rid of his first wife, the man killed her with an axe and fled the scene. The body was shifted to hospital where it was handed over to heirs after medico-legal formalities.
The police have registered a case against the murderer and started raids for his arrest.
