“Balanced” women protection bill in KP to provide women protection as well as beatings, promises Imran Khan

Peshawar – Our Taliban Khan Correspondent: Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan said on Saturday that, as opposed to the bill passed by the Punjab Assembly, the government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is going to bring out a “balanced” women protection bill in the province, which will appeal to all of the interests in the country.

“Under this bill, we will ensure that the women are provided protection against physical violence,” he said. “And we have also inserted clauses which will allow for, when she is displaying a mind of her own, a moderate-to-advanced thrashing.”

“This beating should not be more than twice a month and the privilege of this physical assault is to be restricted only to the husband, mother-in-law and sisters-in-law,” he explains. “This is all in accordance with what the CII wanted.”

“Our bill is in line with our values and culture, as opposed to the PML (N)’s bill, which is only for the promotion of the NGO agenda,” said PTI MPA Shaukat Yousafzai. “The NGOs envision a wild world where women are completely unbeaten by their husbands and that is something we can never allow.”
