World T20: Imran Khan off to India; commentate for Sky Sports

World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan left here on Friday on his way to watching Saturday’s Pakistan-India clash of the World Cup Twenty20 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Imran Khan, who lifted the winning trophy of ICC ODI Cricket World Cup,1992, will also commentate for Sky Sports.

He and another former superstar Wasim Akram will meet the Pakistan team just before the match to give “experience-based pressure-assuage tips” to the players.

“Shahid Arfidi had sought my advice on Pakistan’s match against India. I don’t know what exactly Pakistan team’s grey areas are but I will try to give them suggestions in the light of my own experience,” he told media at his residence before departing for the neighbouring country.

A victory in this match will be crucial for the two teams in their bid to qualify for the last-4 stage of the Tournament.

“I’ll be talking to the players for not taking any pressure against India”, he said.

Imran said that Chief Minster West Bengal had invited him for a meeting adding that the people-to-people contacts were necessary for improved relations between the two countries.

Betterment in Pakistan-India relations favours both countries but relations should be based on mutual respect, he said to a question.

To a question he said that Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s statement regarding Pakistan team was against the norms of hospitality and good politics.

The Chairman PTI said he didn’t know that Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehrik Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri was also on a visit of India these days.
