Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Rana Qasim Noon has won the NA-153 Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan by-election by beating his rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate with a huge margin of nearly 85,000 votes.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed reports, Noon secured 99,700 votes while PTI’s Ghulam Abbas could muster only 31,000 votes. The Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Akram Kahloon came in third with 27,000 votes.
Congratulating Noon on his massive victory, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the people of South Punjab have given their verdict in favour of the PML-N.
“This clearly demonstrates the recognition and appreciation of the government’s policies by the people of NA-153. The election’s result speaks volumes of our performance and its due recognition by the people of Multan,” he said.
“Voters are the best judges of a government’s performance and Thursday’s victory shows that people are satisfied with the PML-N’s pro-masses policies,” he said.
He said the government policies, backed up by all-out efforts of the entire government’ team, were focused at resolving the issues faced by the common man.
“We are grateful to Almighty Allah and the people of Pakistan, who support us in our endeavours to transform the country into a modern, developed and stable country. Our policies have removed the deprivations of the marginalized parts of the country as we believe that Pakistan can move ahead only if each and every part of the country is included in the reform agenda,” the prime minister said.
