Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that the problems faced by the legal fraternity of the federal capital would be resolved on priority basis.
He stated this while talking to a delegation of lawyers, headed by President Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) Syed Mohammad Tayyab Advocate who called on the minister at his office on Friday.
The IBA president informed the minister that there are 3,500 practicing lawyers in the federal capital and that the district courts were situated in a commercial area, F-8 Markaz, in rented buildings. He stated that High Court is to be shifted in its new complex on the Constitution Avenue and the district court will be shifted to G-10/1 in the existing HC Building. He said that the lawyers could not set up chambers in that building so the government should make alternate arrangements for them. He also demanded free medical facilities for lawyers in government hospitals.
Dr Tariq assured the delegation that the lawyers’ genuine issues would be addressed. “I will inform the prime minister about the lawyers’ chambers complex problem so that the government can make necessary arrangements for them,” he said.
