The Punjab chief minister’s inspection team has detected several flaws in the multi-billion Islamabad Rawalpindi Metro Bus Project.
According to an Online report, the Punjab Metro Bus Authority has also stopped 50 per cent of the remaining contractor dues, NESPAK after the inspection teams detected several flaws in the construction work.
According to the source, due to the inspection team’s recommendation the authority is also considering imposing a penalty on NESPAK and other contractors. At the same, the contractors will be asked to fix the faults in within the sum they have already been paid.
The inspection team has detected flaws at various metro stations including Peshawar Mor, PIMS, 7th Avenue, Kutchery and Shaheed-i-Milat stations, where water leakage and dripping from ceiling has become a common occurrence, inundating stations during rains and improper underground water drainage system.
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has given a deadline to contractors to complete work on command and control centre of metro bus service within 10 days.
