IGP orders extraordinary security for citizens

Inspector General of Sindh Police AD Khawaja presided over a high-level meeting at Central Police Office on Wednesday.

The meeting was also attended by Additional IGP Karachi, DIG Admn Karachi, DIG CID, Zonal DIGs, all district SPs, SSP Investigation, DIG Headquarters Zulfikar Larik, and AIG Operation Sindh Ghayasuddin Rashdi.

In the meeting, the IGP said that law and order situation should be improved by using available resources and manpower in a better way. He said those officials, who perform their duties with honestly and responsibility under professional affairs and police rules, would get full support and cooperation, but dishonesty and negligence in the line of duty would be never be tolerated.

The IGP said that police should fulfill their responsibilities while ensuring team work and take action against criminals without any bias and partiality. He said: “The coordination with community and organisations like CPLC should be strengthened and made effective so as to rid the society of crimes.” The meeting should be arranged with civil society members on permanent basis, he said.

Khawaja directed the city police to take solid steps for overcoming street crimes, ensure special police deployment at high crime areas, and make snap-checking system effective. In view of suggestions about anti-mobile snatching and theft unit, the IGP said that effective and result-oriented recommendations should be made and furnished to him with immediate effect.

AD Khawja said that steps should also be taken to eliminate organised crimes, Iranian petrol smuggling, and drug and gambling dens. He warned that the departmental action would be taken against those SHOs who fail to stop organised and heinous crimes in their respective areas. He said that extraordinary security should be ensured to protect life and property of citizens while effective security steps should be taken at mosques, imambargahs, non-Muslims worship places, important installations, educational insinuations and all other public places. He said that trained and expert officials should be appointed for conducting investigation into cases. He directed the AIG Karachi to furnish the details of vacant posts of SP, SDPOs and DSP investigation in the district so that their deployment could be ensured.
