Federation asked to submit enquiry report against former IG Cheema

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has asked the federation to submit an enquiry report against former IG Islamabad Police Aftab Ahmad Cheema before adjudicating a case related to his promotion.

IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui issued the order on a petition filed by Cheema in respect to his promotion.

Justice Siddiqui remarked “the court will meet all requirements of justice and injustice will not be done”.

Advocate Mustafa Ramday appeared on behalf of the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General (DAG) represented the federation.

Ramday told the court that his client has been cleared in the enquiry report and now there was no justification for not granting him promotion.

Justice Siddiqui remarked there was only one reason for stopping the promotion, which stands no more after the inquiry report. The DAG said that this way a Pandora’s Box will open.

Justice Siddiqui remarked that courts give decisions within the parameters of law and constitution. “It is better that you talk to the secretary establishment on this issue,” he said.

The DAG sought time for submitting the enquiry report, which was granted and the hearing was adjourned till March 22.
