Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has approved a grant amounting to Rs 300 million for construction of sports grounds in Rawalpindi.
Initially Rs 50 million has been released and the remaining Rs 250 million has been included in the Annual Development Funds for the year 2016-17.
According to former MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, first ever state of the art astro- turf hockey ground will be constructed at the cost of Rs 70 million for girls in Waqat-un-Nisar Girls College. Rs 80 million have been approved for upgrading Municipal Football Stadium, installation of flood lights and construction of pavilion.
Shahbaz Sharif Sports City will be constructed at the cost of Rs 150 million at Rawal road. Jogging track, synthetic football ground and one first class cricket ground will be built in the sports city. Tennis court, volley ball court and basket ball court equipped with modern facilities will also be made part of the sports city.
He stated that earlier four cricket grounds with flood lights have been constructed in Rawalpindi.
