Mustafa Kamal returned back in his motherland after living around three years abroad. His instant press conference was a watershed moment in Karachi’s politics, in which he made serious allegations against MQM’s Chairperson Altaf Hussain and established a new party alongside Anees Qaimkhani, whose name is expected to be announce in his upcoming jalsa at Bagh-e-Qaid. As a mayor he has undoubtedly worked for the betterment of Karachi due to which his surprise comeback pleased many of his followers. What attracted most was his sentiments and party flag that showed his patriotism towards Pakistan.

Karachi has always been a centre of MQM’s leadership but despite being a part of government it has done no good for the city. As a consequence PTI emerged as the second largest party in 2013 elections in Karachi for their “change” slogans. But because of useless dharnas against election rigging and conflicts in their own party it disappointed too many people.

In the conditions of despair for people of Karachi Mustafa Kamal has become light in a dark room. People admire him because of his bravery and honesty but the main concern is fear, fear of falling in a hole once again. Altaf Hussain had established its party in the name of giving rights to Urdu speaker, but it ran athwart as injustice, massacre, brutal killings and slaughtering of innocent souls prevailed in the city of lights. As victims of betrayal we fear that how MQM misused its power, it will not be part of Mustafa Kamal’s politics. We can just hope that he will fulfill all his commitments and will make Karachi the city of lights by giving back its charm, peace and beauty and above all he will not only unite Urdu speakers but all Pakistanis under an umbrella.
