Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi on Tuesday skipped the team’s training session citing fever as the reason ahead of World T20 match against Bangladesh on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old received criticism on Monday for his statement claiming that he got “more love” in India than in Pakistan.

However, head coach Waqar Younis said that his absence has nothing to do with the controversy. “It’s not like that. He was not feeling well in the morning so it’s better to take rest. It’s hot and humid out there,” he said.

Giving an update on Afridi, team manager Intikhab Alam said that the skipper was running fever in the morning. “He over trained himself yesterday. He’s had slight fever in the morning and we opted to give him rest,” said Alam.
