Provision of residential facilities CDA’s top priority, says chairman

Provision of state-of-the-art and quality residential facilities in the city is among the prime responsibilities of Capital Development Authority (CDA).

In order to cater the growing housing needs of the growing Islamabad, new sectors are being launched and completion of development in the delayed ones is the top priority of the authority.

Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal expressed these views while chairing a meeting held at CDA headquarters recently. During the meeting, steps taken by the authority for launching new sectors and progress of on-going development work was reviewed.

Maroof Afzal was apprised that after completing development work on the phase one of Park Enclave Housing Project, process of handing over possession to the allottees of the scheme is going to be initiated in next few days.

He was further briefed that after receiving a resounding response by the general public in Park Enclave-II, arrangements are being finalized to launch sector C-15.

He was informed that allotment letters are being issued to the successful allottees of Park Enclave – II, while deposited amounts of unsuccessful applicants are being refunded on immediate basis.

Chairman CDA was also informed that a comprehensive strategy has been devised for the eradication of encroachments in sector C-15 and sector C-16, so that these sectors could also be launched at the earliest.

Chairman CDA was briefed that the tender of the development work of sector C-15 has been issued and initially, in the first phase all major roads, service roads, sewerage system and culverts in sector C-15 would be completed with the cost of Rs. 665 million, while remaining development activities in the sector will be commenced soon after the completion of the first phase.

He was further informed that 1000 kanals of CDA land in sector C-16 has been got vacated from illegal occupants and all the affectees of the sectors have already been compensated.

He was informed that CDA has complete possession of land in sector C-15 and C-14 and fence around the acquired land is being erected to discourage encroachments.

Furthermore, special pickets are also being established so that encroachments on the retrieved land could not be cropped up again.

Sector C-16, consisting of mauza Sang Jani, Sarai Madhu and Sarai Kharbuza, covers an area of 7448 kanals has been acquired through an award announced on December 2, 2008 on Land Sharing Policy 2005.

He was also informed that 80% of the land owners have been compensated while remaining land owners have been asked, through public notices, to collect their rights and abandon the occupation in favour of CDA within 15 days so that development plan could in the sector could be finalized.

Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal directed the concerned formations to expedite sectors development program so that rising housing needs of the city could be catered.
