Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that government will amend “Protection of Women against violence Bill 2015” to exempt Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman from wearing a ‘bracelet’.
Maulana Fazl is an obedient husband at home but takes a tough stand in public to maintain his stature, Rana added.
On Monday, speaking to the media after the meeting at the Prime Minister’s Raiwand residence on Monday, the JUI-F chief said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had promised to address his reservations and make amendments to a legislation against domestic violence passed by the Punjab Assembly last month.
Punjab Assembly had passed Protection of Women against violence Bill 2015, making all crimes against the women an offence including domestic violence, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, verbal abuse, stalking, abetment of an offence, and cyber crimes.
