Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that the war on terror had disrupted political, cultural and socio-economic structure of FATA under the FCR and it is the time to revisit the situation and take prompt steps to bring the tribesmen into mainstream.

The QWP chief expressed these remarks during QWP FATA Zone’s meeting at Watan Kor. QWP Provincial Chairman and KP Senior Minister Siknadar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Provincial General Secretary Hashim Babar, Fata Zone Organizer Malik Tahir Akbar and Information Secretary Tariq Ahmad Khan were also present on the occasion.

Sherpao said that FATA people had rendered many sacrifices for the last three and a half decades but successive federal governments did not take meaningful steps to end their miseries. “The temporary displaced persons from Khyber, Orakzai and North Waziristan and South Waziristan agencies are still waiting for the green signal to go back to their hometowns. The government has not yet made any comprehensive plan to identify and to compensate property losses of the tribal people,” he added.

Talking on merger of FATA into KP province, the QWP chairman said Pakhtun population was passing through difficult times throughout the history. He said, “To make voice of the Pakhtuns more effective and stronger we all should get united in one unit in order to achieve sustainable peace and development in the region”. He also directed FATA Zone organiser to launch awareness campaigns regarding merger of FATA into KP province in FATA.

Sherpao further said his party wanted friendly and cordial relations between Islamabad and Kabul. “The impasse between these two neighboring countries directly affects the Pakhtun population on both sides of the border,” he expressed. He, on the occasion, asked Fata Zone’s officeholders to intensify their efforts and convey party’s message of peace, development and progress to every nook and corner of the tribal belt.
