The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to hold a public gathering before Mustafa Kamal’s show of power, Pakistan Today has learnt.
According to a MQM leader, a meeting was held at the MQM headquarters, Nine-Zero, following the announcement of its disgruntled leader Mustafa Kamal to hold a congregation at Bagh-e-Jinnah on April 2 to show strength of his unnamed party.
During the meeting, the MQM’s coordination committee reviewed the situation emerging after Kamal’s announcement of a big public gathering and discussed the various options to counter his move.
The meeting decided that the MQM would hold a big public gathering before Mustafa Kamal’s show of power. “Initially, there was a difference of opinion as to whether MQM’s public gathering should be held before or after Kamal’s rally. But later the party leaders decided to stage a big show on March 18,” added the MQM source.
When contacted, MQM Coordination Committee member Ameenul Haq confirmed the MQM would hold a big public gathering on March 18.
