The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) held a massive Tahafuz Namoos-e-Resalaat rally against the execution of Mumtaz Qadri and attempts to repeal the blasphemy law. It also announced to launch a country-wide drive against the ruling party.

Thousands of people from all walks of life participated in the march. They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with the slogans against the government, execution of Mumtaz Qadri, and attempts to repeal blasphemy law.

Grandson of Ghazi Abdul Qayoum also participated in the march. Medical and reception camps were also set up along the march routes.

JI leader Siraj-ul-Haq while addressing the march paid rich tribute to Mumtaz Qadri and said he had delivered a clear message through sacrificing his life that Muslim Umma was still alive and no attempt to safeguard blasphemers would be tolerated.

The JI leader said that Nawaz Sharif had placed himself in the category of traitors. Haq said the founders of Muslim League had defended the killers of blasphemers but unfortunately the high ups took a U-turn.

He congratulated Karachiites who, he said, had proved that they were with the lovers and followers of the Holy Prophet (SAW). JI Sindh Amir Dr Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui said that Quaid-e-Azam was the lawyer of Ghazi Alam Din who had killed a blasphemer and Allama Iqbal had received his body after the British Viceroy hanged him. Today the nation stood where Quaid was standing but unfortunately Nawaz Sharif-led government had adopted the stance of British Viceroy.
