Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has agreed to amend the Women Protection Act but he has told the CM that the matter has gone beyond redressal through a mere amendment.
Talking to media on Saturday, Fazlur Rehman said that if the government was ready to amend the act then it should not have been passed in secrecy.
He said that the Women’s Protection Act was against the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah adding that a true Muslim can never accept any law or bill which is contradictory to Islam.
The JUI-F chief said that his recommendation to abolish the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was ignored at the time when 18th Amendment was passed and today even the prime minister has reservations on NAB.
