Asian countries should work collectively to be a vibrant power: Rabbani

Chairman Senate, Senator Raza Rabbani Saturday said unfortunately western countries are trying to destabilize democratic grounds in Asia and it is high time that Asia works together to be a vibrant power internationally.

He said, “Unity is diversity”, so Asian nations should work mutually to safeguard democratic values, economic and natural resources for strengthening their power.

He said this while addressing the`3rd International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) Workshop on Human Trafficking’, in which 300 political parties of Asian countries endeavour to cement democracy in their respective states.

He said, “Now the centre of gravity in international comity of nations is shifting. Initially central power remained with Asia which was gradually overcome by West but now is tilting back towards Asia.”

Raza Rabbani said the struggling brave people of Palestine need to be acknowledged as they fight fearlessly against Zionism.

“Silence of the international world on the atrocities in Palestine raises questions on western wisdom,” he said.

He added that on Friday the upper house passed a bill on Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2015 in which for the first time child trafficking within the country is made an offence and the punishment for the culprits has also been increased.

The three-day workshop started on Friday and would continue till Sunday in which representatives of 19 political parties from 15 Asian countries will be taking part.
