He has plenty of ink, but Zayn Malik appears to have gone one step further with a tattoo on his FACE.
The former One Direction star debuted the bold new look on his Instagram account.
The design, on his temple, shows an intricate bird design with the letters ‘M.O.M’ inked around it.
At first glance, the tattoo may be a sweet tribute to his mother Trisha – but on closer inspection, it is more likely linked to his new album title – ‘Mind of Mine’.
The pictures posted on social media also show off two new neck tattoos – one, a swallow bird similar to what his former band mate Harry Styles has on his chest and the other, a simple flower.
Zayn has continued his solo career by teasing another new song – but some fans have suggested it’s a backwards set.
He unveiled Like I Would – taken from his upcoming debut album Mind of Mine – on Thursday and it quickly caused quite a stir.
Many fans were delighted to hear a snippet of new music from the ex boy band singer, which features a catchy R&B-electro beat and soulful vocals as they wait for the finished LP.
However, others were quick to take to Instagram and Twitter to point out certain similarities between the tune, and 1D’s poppy hit I Would, which was included on their Take Me Home record in 2012.
One fan wrote: “Bruh this song already exists it’s called I Would by One Direction”
Another cheekily asked: “Why does it have to be so similar to one direction’s I would ”
Zayn’s track includes the lyrics: “He won’t love you like I would.”
Meanwhile, the 1D song features the boys sing the line: “Would he love you like I would.”
Fans of the boy band may still be reeling over Zayn’s departure from the group a year ago but will be pleased by the 23-year-old singer’s recent upload – as a One Direction surfboard can clearly be seen in the background.
Meanwhile, Zayn was previously forced to deny his album release date is anything other than a coincidence, after it was revealed ‘Mind of Mine’ will be unveiled on March 25, exactly one year after he quit One Direction.
He said: “I don’t know, is that how it works out? It’s March 25, it wasn’t planned that way. It works that way. It just seems to coincide with the iTunes launch and everything. Maybe it’s a sign.”
