The Supreme Court on Thursday extended stay order indefinitely on elections of mayor and deputy mayor of Karachi.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmad also issued notices to the attorney general of Pakistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa advocate general seeking their comments. Babar Awan told the court that the Sindh government was engaged in Supreme Court Karachi registry in connection with Karachi law and order case, therefore, their representatives could appear in the case. He also said that polls for deputy major and major in KP were held through show of hands and if the Supreme Court gave a decision otherwise it would affect the polling method. He requested the court to issue a notice to the KP government to seek their pint of view. The court extended the stay indefinitely.
