State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Friday said that the illegal occupation of state land would not be tolerated at any cost.
Talking to media after visiting Rawal Dam along with Chairman CDA and others, he ordered immediate action against land grabbers and the ones responsible of reported China cutting in Rawal Dam area.
The minister summoned project director and irrigation department relevant officers of Punjab to explain their position.
Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal also ordered, fresh demarcation to be carried out which will be conducted by Environment and Land directorate along with Islamabad Capital Territory. “The land in adverse possession will be retrieved from the encroachment mafia and all illegal structures and encroachments on the state land would be resorted so that the natural beauty of the area can be maintained. No construction will be allowed at any cost and the state land around the Rawal Dam will be demarcated and protected from land mafia,” said Maroof Afzal.
The minister visited Rawal Dam area in light of notice taken by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about illegal possession by the encroachers and his subsequent directions to the minister in this regard.
Dr. Tariq said that in light of the directions of the PM, the land in adverse possession would be retrieved from the encroachers, adding that all illegal structures and encroachments on the state land would be removed to restore the natural beauty of the area.
CDA plans to establish pickets for effective monitoring of the land, special teams of land and enforcement supported by Islamabad Police will be deployed to defeat the encroachment mafia. Civic authorities also plan to ascertain the ownership from old record and if any official found negligent will be suspended and an action will follow against him.
