WAPDA officer among 7 killed in Peshawar over land dispute

Seven people, including a Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) officer, were killed in a firing incident in Peshawar on Wednesday over the settlement of a land dispute.

According to Deputy Superintendent Police Chamkani Islam, two rival groups opened fire on each other over a land dispute in Dalazak road area of Peshawar.

“Three people were killed on the spot while four others were injured who later succumbed to their injuries in Lady Reading Hospital,” said the DSP.

Police said that the deceased included a WAPDA officer and his two sons. It further claimed to have recovered three weapons from the crime scene.

However, no case was registered in this regard till the filing of this report.

Abducted Nigerian recovered from Charsadda:

Separately, police in Charsadda district safely recovered an abducted Nigerian and arrested two of his alleged kidnappers.

According to Tangi SHO Gul Shahid, police raided a compound at Tekadar Korona area in Charsadda and recovered a Nigerian namely Chakori.

He added that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom money of Rs10 million for the release of Nigerian citizen from his friends and colleagues.

Chakori was running a business in Rawalpindi and was abducted a week ago.

The police later handed over the Nigerian to Punjab police since the case was registered in Rawalpindi.
