PTI chairman warns of street protests if ECP fails to ensure transparent electoral system

Lashing out at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday warned that he will take to the streets once again if the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) does not ensure an impartial and transparent electoral system in the country.

Speaking at a press conference at his residence in Bani Gala along with PTI Central Secretary Information Naeemul Haq and PTI Balochistan Organiser Yar Muhammad Rind, Khan demanded deployment of army for the by-poll in NA-267 to ensure fair, free and transparent poll.

The PTI chief said that genuine democracy and true leadership was only possible through fair and transparent elections.

Terming the ECP a PML-N wing, he said that the incumbent election commission is hand in glove with PML-N to manipulate the elections on May 13, 2013.

He said that instead of conducting a campaign for the forthcoming polls in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), PTI is working on a strategy to thwart the PML-N’s bid to rig the polls in the region.

The PTI chairman said that massive rigging evidence surfaced in NA-110 constituency; however the decision has yet to come despite lapse of around three years.

Talking about PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s interview that he will not support NAB’s action against Sharif Brothers in Punjab, Imran Khan said that Zardari gave message to Nawaz Sharif that ‘he is ready to protect him against accountability’, which confirmed his stance that they both would never allow to establish free accountability system, as it would hurt their interests.
