Two organisations of private schools have announced a two-day strike in the whole province against the Punjab Education Authority Bill passed by the provincial assembly a week ago.
Under the announcement, the All Pakistan Private Schools Federation and the Pakistan Education Council said that private schools in the province will remain closed on March 8 (today) and March 9 (tomorrow).
Meanwhile, All Pakistan Private School Association President Adeeb Jawdani has distanced itself from the strike call given by the two representative bodies.
The bill aims to regulate the private schools and bars them to increase in fee without bringing it to the notice of higher authorities. The bill also strictly restrains private schools from asking the students to buy uniform or books from any specific shop.
