Women from different spheres of life are enthusiastically waiting for the upcoming ‘Women Empowerment Policy’ to be announced by the government on International Women Day on March 8 with an expectation to get the much-needed relief.
The draft of the policy according to the official sources carried various incentives for women including day-care centers facility in all public and private departments, relaxation in age limit for public jobs, extension in maternity leave, loans for small business and increase in number of scholarships etc.
The working women are facing problems in taking care of their children in absence of day care centres in their offices.
One of the working women from media organization, Shaista Aqeel said, “Making day-care centres mandatory in all public and private institutions would benefit the working women, facilitating them to carry on their jobs after marriage and children”.
She said, “While other steps of extension in maternity leave, age relaxation, increasing job quotas etc are also very effective towards empowering women in real sense”.
Another working women, Saima Mohsin said the dream of real empowerment can be materialized through financial uplift of women and this policy includes many incentives for them which would enable them to play active part in national development.
The package would provide conducive working environment to the women, ensuring their maximum contribution in different fields of life.
She said women comprised of more than half of the total population and their active role in the national development is vital for the country’ progress.
