Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan Monday approved the 15 member squad on the recommendation of National Selection Committee headed by Mr. Haroon Rashid for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 2016.
A meeting was held between Chairman PCB Shahryar Khan, Head Coach Waqar Younas and Chief Selector Haroon Rasheed pertaining to the changes in the team.
According to sources, Ahmed Shahzad has been picked up on the place of Khurram Manzoor while Khalid Latif has replaced Iftekhar Ahmed.
The other players include captain Shahid Afridi, Sarfarz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Imad Wasim, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Sami.
The T20 team has been selected keeping in mind the conditions during the World T-20 in India. The team is a fine blend of experience and youth and the selectors believe that team will do well in the mega event”, said chief selector Haroon Rashid
The final list has been dispatched to International Cricket Council (ICC).
Earlier, PCB had sent a security team to India to survey the situation on the ground before the country’s cricket squad travels to play against their arch-rival during an upcoming India-Pakistan World T20 tie.
The three-member Pakistan security team comprises Director of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Usman Anwar, a security officer Colonel (retd) Mohammad Azam and an official of Pakistani High Commission already in New Delhi.
