Kite flying Saturday continued despite a ban enforced by the city police but the authorities seemed unable to take action against the violators, the citizens said.
Kites could be seen in the sky in different localities including Waris Khan, Naz Cinema, College Road, Umer Road, Dhoke Khaba, Dhoke Elahi Bukush, Nadeem Colony, Javed Colony and Chaman Zar.
Shopkeepers are openly selling huge stocks of kites of all colors and designs and other stuff including kite threads and strings, and no official has yet taken notice of it, they claimed.
CPO Israr Ahmed Khan had said that strict action would be taken against violators of kite flying ban adding that no one would be allowed to violate the law.
He said that the ban on kite flying was being strictly implemented and that the Station House Officer (SHO) would be responsible for violation of kite flying ban in their areas.
He directed the police officials to take immediate action against the violators.
