NAB starts probe into bungling in health–related projects

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sukkur, has started an inquiry against officers/officials of health institutions of Larkana region and others for their alleged corruption and corrupt practices.

In this connection, a letter by the NAB has been forwarded to the executive engineer, provincial buildings department, Larkana, directing him to provide all required information about four schemes executed by the department.

The schemes include establishment of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Skin Disease Complex & Hepatology & Dental Department at Chandka Medical College Hospital, revamping/revitalisation of Shaikh Zaid Hospital for Women, establishment of dental faculty in Chandka Medical College and upgradation of urological facilities at Chandka Hospital.

Sukkur NAB Deputy Director (Coord) Masood Ahmed further directed to provide documents including PC-1, revised PC-1, SPPRA website posting, notification of procurement/bidding committee, list of XEN/SDO/AE, bidders complete information, tender advertisements and bidders offers, criteria for evaluation of bidders, comparative statements, work orders, measurement books, inspection/progress reports, complete head-wise payments and completion certificates.

The XEN has been directed to forward the above information latest by March 07, 2016. Concerned CMCH officials Altaf Soomro and Ghulam Murtaza Narejo had been directed for strict compliance by the CMCH Medical Superintendent Dr Muneer Jokhio as the letter pertains to CMC & hospital projects, said official sources.
