Federal Minister for Interprovincial Coordination (IPC) Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada Friday said the census would be held soon after completion of the final phase of operation Zarb-e-Azb.
“However, the census is expected to be conducted before September this year,” he said while talking to APP.
The minister said that the census was postponed due to engagement of Pakistan Army in the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists.
Replying to a question, he said that there was an option to hold census in different phases but as per United Nations’ guidelines, it should be held simultaneously across the country.
Pirzada hoped that the army personnel would be available by September on completion of the final phase of the operation.
To another question, the minister said that the recent meeting of the CCI had approved the draft of the bill of Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
