Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr Asif Kirmani Tuesday said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would become a more strong and vibrant political party in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) after joining of renowned media personality Mushtaq Minhas.

Dr Kirmani welcomed and congratulated Mushtaq Minhas on behalf of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for joining the PML-N.

Earlier at a ceremony, Mushtaq Minhas formally announced to join the PML-N vowing to work under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the development of backward areas of Kashmir.

The ceremony was largely attended by PML-N leaders and workers, including Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhary Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board Siddiqul Farooq, President PML-N AJK-chapter Raja Farooq Haider, General Secretary Shah Ghulam Qadir, Sardar Farooq Haider and Noreen Arif.

Addressing participants at the ceremony, Dr Kirmani praised the role of Mushtaq Minhas in organising the PML-N in different areas of the AJK.

He said the PML-N leadership believed in promoting love, harmony and peaceful co-existence and it never indulged in politics of hatred and vendetta.

The Special Assistant said he himself had joined the PML-N after seeing those qualities in its leadership.

He said Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had declared Kashmir ‘jugular vein’ of Pakistan, urging the nation to follow his golden principles of ‘unity, faith and discipline’ to achieve development.

He said the PML-N was committed for the development and prosperity of AJK.

He said Kashmir had towering political personalities like Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas, Sardar Ibrahim, Sardar Sikandar Hayat, Sardar Abdul Qayyum and K W Khursheed, but unfortunately at present the government in AJK was being run by incompetent politicians.

He said the party leadership would always stand by its workers in all circumstances.

Dr Kirmani said the PML-N would hold party convention soon in Forward Kahuta and ensuring law and order was sole responsibility of the government there.

He said it was the fundamental right of every political party to hold peaceful public meetings and rallies, and the government was duty bound to provide them security.

Commenting on the upcoming general elections in AJK, Dr Kirmani expressed confidence that the PML-N would win the polls. He advised the people of Kashmir to check their votes in the voters’ list and ensure exercising their legitimate right to select their representatives.
