NA committee directs regularisation of teachers of federal schools, colleges

Chairman Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan Wednesday directed officials to ensure release of pending salaries of daily wage teaching and non teaching staff of educational institutions in Islamabad and regularize their services by the end of March.

Secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Hasan Iqbal said the summary consisting of the criteria to regularize services of teachers by dividing them into three categories, will be sent to the PM, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for approval soon.

While their pending salaries for the period, when they were on protest, will also be released soon, he added. The secretary said their services would be regularized through devised criteria so that they don’t face any issue in future.

Member of Committee, Asad Umar expressing solidarity with the daily wage staff said he would launch protest along with them if their grievances were not redressed.

Discussing The Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) (Amendment) Bill 2015 moved by Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, the chairman directed the officials of law department to incorporate suggestions of the members in the bill and present in the upcoming meeting.

The members also discussed the ‘Compulsory Education of Arabic Bill 2015’ moved by MNA Naeema Kishwer Khan and gave their suggestions.

Some expressed their views in favour of making Arabic language a compulsory subject for the students however others said the non-Muslim students must be exempted from this practice. The chairman referred the bill to the National Curriculum Council to get its input.

The National Commission for Minority Education Bill 2015 moved by MNA Romina Khurshid Alam was also discussed by the members of committee.

MNA including Syed Ali Raza Abidi, Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Mrs Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli and others attended the meeting.
