Pakistan to survive as a democratic welfare state as envisioned by Quaid must be run as a country where rule of law prevails and constitution continues to play dominant role defining exercise of powers by all institutions. When highest court of law has given a judgment, it must be implemented; otherwise, this country will become a banana republic.
Mumtaz Qadri according to laws in existence committed a murder and was executed accordingly. He will now be judged by Almighty Himself. If his supporters protesting on streets think that he committed an act of glory, then they should be convinced that he will be rewarded or punished by Almighty.
The extremists under the garb of TTP or ISIS etc who are killing and murdering innocent human beings have assumed unto themselves right to kill, which Almighty has forbidden. No individual or group can assume to themselves such a right because this would lead to chaos and misery for millions of Muslims and members of other faiths that live in Pakistan, and whose security of life is constitutional obligation of state to protect. It is time that every institution of state, including executive and military establishment must adhere to constitution, restrain from allowing private militias to be formed and not indulge in abuse of power. We are reaping the harvest that years of abuse by those at helm in Pakistan have sown. They exploited religion, indulged in massive corruption and failed to provide subsidized education, health and justice to most deprived sections of our society, who became easy prey for recruitment by enemies of state, exploiting religion, ethnicity and sectarian hatred.
