Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the government is focusing on economic growth and generating employment opportunities.
The finance minister was talking to UN Under Secretary General and Executive Secretary UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Dr Shamshad Akhtar.
The minister said that Pakistan’s economic turn-around had encouraged foreign investors to explore investment opportunities in the country. Dr Shamshad said the economic performance of the government was laudable and the progress in the energy sector was also noteworthy. He said the ESCAP was ready to extend any help to Pakistan for its energy projects. Chairing a meeting here, the finance minister said the government was committed to overcoming electricity shortage. The water and power secretary briefed the meeting about the measures for reforms envisaging removal of impediments in the development and growth of the power sector.
