Women lawmakers of the Sindh Assembly have unanimously passed a resolution to pay tribute to Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy on Mnday, who received her second Oscar award based on her documentary about the honour-killings.

During Sindh Assembly’s Monday session, the female members paid tribute to Sharmeen for winning an Oscar for her movie “A Girl in the River” aimed at creating awareness against honour-killing in Pakistan. The resolution was passed unanimously.

As the session progressed, Khurram Sher Zaman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf tabled a call for attention-notice regarding the open sale and purchase of liquor by the Muslims.

On his turn, Minister Sikandar Mandhro said that the Muslims should refrain from purchasing liquor. Later the session was adjourned by Siraj Durrani till Tuesday morning.

  1. This time a valuable and deserving " Resolution". Although the lady belongs to Sind and Karachi, she has done it for Pakistan. Let us hope her achievement is implemented in letter and spirit.
