While Pakistan has decided to participate in World T20, it is up to the Indian government and BCCI to provide security to the team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman said on Monday.

“We have conveyed the concerns we have about the security of [the national team] to International Cricket Board (ICC),” Shaharyar Khan told a group of reporters here.

The World T20 will take place in India from March 8 to April 3 with Pakistan’s government giving the nod for national team’s participation on February 25.

Regarding Pakistan team’s performance against India in the Asia Cup thriller, the PCB chairman said Pakistan batsmen should learn from the skills of Indian batsman, while especially praising “Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni’s batting class.”

Shaharyar added Bangladesh cricket team had consented to arrive and play in Pakistan, with the matches planned to be held in Karachi and Lahore, but did not give a date.

Shahid Afridi had earlier said he would captain the team only if he was tasked with the responsibility till the World Cup, said the chairman.

“If he [Shahid Afridi] wants to change his decision, he may come and talk to me,” Shaharyar said, adding “game should always remain separated from politics.”

It is up to us to decide whether Afridi will feature in the national team as a captain or a player, he added.

“I nor interfere in the matters of the selection committee neither intend to force any player’s retirement,” PCB chairman maintained.

On February 27, India beat Pakistan by five wickets in an action filled-match of Asia Cup staged in Mirpur.
