Forty Days later: Still remembering the BKU attack victims

The forty-day anniversary of those who were killed during the Bacha Khan University (BKU) attack was held at the university campus on Tuesday.

On the occasion, special prayers were offered for eternal peace of the departed souls and early recovery of the injured. Furthermore, strict security measures were taken in order to avoid any inconvenient incident.

Higher Education Secretary Farrah Hamid Khan, BKU Vice-chancellor Fazal Rahim Marwat, DIG Said Wazir, DPO Khalid Sohail, dean of the university Abdul Sattar, registrar Hamidullah, director administration Dr Shakil and PRO Saeed Khan Khalil were present on the occasion. The function was also attended by cricketer Younis Khan.

While talking to the media,  Marwat said, “All those who lost their lives will always be remembered  and education will continue to be imparted in the hope of enlightening the wider community and education will continue to be imparted in the hope of enlightening the wider community.”

Furthermore, the cricket legend Younis Khan said, “The right to education is important and must be given top priority.”

Militants had stormed the university on January 20, killing 21 students, a professor and other staff members. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by a faction of Taliban headed by Omar Mansoor.The university was reopened on February 15 after 26 days of its closure.
