The Punjab government has decided to send the case of the murder of former home minister Colonel (r) Shujaa Khanzada in a terror attack to a military court.

The former Punjab minister was killed in a suicide attack on his political office in Shadi Khan village in Hazro Tehsil of Attock District, along with many others on August 16, 2015.

The main accused and facilitator, Qasim Moavia, is in the custody of Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). He belongs to a village in Hazro Tehsil. The four other accused, namely Amjad Fayyaz, Saddam and Saddaqat, who were involved in the attack on Khanzada, have been killed in an encounter with the CTD personnel in Sherakot. The terror attack plan was jointly hatched by Al Qaeda in the Sub-continent and Lashkar-e-Jhanghvi.

According to Punjab government sources, the Home Department has completed the file work and, after obtaining the approval of the Provincial Apex Committee in its next meeting, the summary for forwarding the case to the military case will be sent to the Ministry of Interior.
