The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the government to file a report within a week’s time about health of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who is languishing in a US jail.

IHC judge Dr Noor ul Haq N Qureshi directed the government to inform the court about the efforts being made by it to seek release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

On February 25, the court reserved judgement after hearing arguments from parties concerned while Dr Afia’s family had sought court direction for the government to arrange a meeting of her family members with her.

Counsel for the petitioner Sajid Qureshi had taken the plea that by overlooking Dr Aafia’s issue the government was breach the constitution. He had said that it was unknown either if she is alive or dead. No contact could be made with her for the last two years, he had said.
