Two more polio cases registered in KPK

Two more children have contracted the polio disease in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa taking the toll to three in the province during the current year.

According to a private news channel quoting officials of provincial health department have said that a seven-month old girl in an Afghan refugee camp set- up in Lakhtai Banda of Hangu has been tested positive for polio while the virus has also been confirmed in a two months old child in Haider Colony Peshawar.

As many as five cases of polio affected children have so far been reported in Pakistan during the current year, of which cases have been confirmed in Quetta and Karachi as well.

Focal person of the special task force comprised experts of health department and the United Nations formed by the government of KP also said that the situation was satisfactory as compared with the last year but the emergence of new cases was a challenge for them.

“We take the three cases as a challenge. We will take our drive against the disease to micro level. We will identify the flaws in the campaign and control the virus in the next campaigns going along with a new strategy,” he added.
