Steps taken to avoid traffic mess at Metro train sites

The City Traffic Police are utilising all resources to avoid traffic mess and ensure smooth traffic flow on important thoroughfares particularly roads adjacent to Orange Line Metro Train development work.

A spokesman for traffic police told APP that Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafeez Cheema daily conducts visits to various sites for reviewing traffic arrangements at construction sites of OLMT project.

The officials have been directed to evolve comprehensive parking measures besides taking action against encroachment and other violators around the development sites of the project to facilitate people.

In this regard, additional traffic wardens have also been deployed at various roads where the construction work was in progress.

Traffic wardens were performing duties in three shifts to maintain traffic flow on roads where construction work was underway whereas they have also been directed to discipline the construction staff that no construction material should be thrown on roads and adopt safety shields and light flashers.

The CTP had set up four screens at Garhi Shahu, Mughalpura, Dubai Chowk and Thokar Niaz Baig to aware people regarding traffic situation and Orange Train project construction work in the city.

As many as 460 face masks and 650 traffic cones have also been distributed among traffic wardens deployed at construction sites of OLMT project.

The CTO said strict action would be taken against those who would not perform their duties with responsibility.
