COAS attends funeral prayer of martyred army men

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Sunday said the army would go to any length to finish terrorists from any nook and corner of the country.

 

The COAS, who arrived here in the morning, visited the Corps Headquarters where he was briefed by Corps Commander Lt Gen Hidayat Ur Rehman about the latest progress of operation in Shawal.

 

Paying tribute to the sacrifices and resilience of soldiers, who were courageously fighting terrorists in difficult mountainous area of Shawal, the COAS said, “We are determined and will go to any length to finish all pockets of terrorists from any nook and corner of the country.”

 

 

Gen Raheel expressed his complete satisfaction over final push in North Waziristan to evict terrorists from isolated pockets of Shawal close to Pak-Afghan border.

 

 

Earlier, the COAS attended Nimaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) and offered Fateha for soldiers who were martyred in Shawal on Saturday in search of hidden terrorists and exchange of fire during encounter with terrorists.

 

Namaz-e-Jinaza was offered at Corps Headquarters, which was also attended by senior civil and military leadership.

 

The COAS expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and later visited the injured soldiers at Combined Military Hospital Peshawar.

 

It may be added that at least 19 terrorists were killed while four army men including Captain Umair Abdullah Abbasi, Havaldar Hakim, and sepoys Rashid and Hameed, were martyred in a clash in Shawal valley, the last bastion of terrorists in North Waziristan Agency, on Saturday.
