JUI-F chief calls Punjab Assemly a bunch of ‘uxorious MPAs’ for passing Protection of Women Bill

Criticising ‘Protection of Women Against Violence Bill’, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called Punjab Assembly the ‘House of uxorious MPAs’.

Speaking to a public gathering organised for welcoming tribal elder Ajmal Bazai into the party, JUI-F chief said that the ruling PML-N passed the bill which it had rejected itself during former president Pervez Musharraf’s regime. He said that according to this bill, male members of a family cannot hold his wife or daughter accountable for any wrongdoing as it will be violation of the law.

He stated that ruling powers wanted to sideline his party but they always fight through political and constitutional ways. He said JUI-F is a political and religious party and they always stopped tyrants through the power of the party workers. He further stated that the agenda of the West against religious seminaries will be foiled, adding that organised propaganda is being carried out against religious education centres.

Fazlur Rehman welcomed the merger of JUI Nazriati (Ideological) with JUI-F, saying this merger will bring fruitful results for the party in the province. He further stated that no power can divide JUI as its opponents are also accepting this reality today.

The JUI-F chief further said that western route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be constructed as the prime minister has given assurance to all political parties and addressed their concerns after the All Parties Conference (APC). He further said that now even the Chinese Embassy had issued a statement in this regard.

Commenting on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), he said that it was created to get revenge on political opponents. He was of the opinion that courts and other constitutional organizations are already working in the country, adding that in the presence of those institutions there is no need of NAB.

Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri while speaking to the gathering said there is no constitution in the country, adding that recommendations of Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) are not being practically enforced in the country.

He said that they always talk about protection of the country but the government is taking action against religious seminaries with an organised plan.

  1. We have a society in this country against cruelty to animals and it is very much active. What's wrong if we try to save women from cruelty ? They are killed in the name of 'honor', acid thrown on them in revenge, raped to insult families, sold for animals and like animals – a long list. Stop all that if you can.
