Tariq Jahangeeri wins IHCBA election

Tariq Mahmood Jahangeeri Advocate has won the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) Election 2016, held on Saturday.

Jahangeeri, was elected as president of the bar while acquiring 655 votes out of 945 total cast votes whereas the runner up candidate Shahid Kamal Khan Advocate got 267 votes.

For the seat of Vice-President Naheed Iqbal Awan Advocate was announced victorious in contest with Tahir Salim Advocate while scoring 608 votes by Zulifqar Ali Abbasi Chairman Election Board.

Waqas Malik Advocate won the seat for general secretary of the bar in a close contest between him and Aamir Abdullah.

Malik acquired 501 votes whereas Abdullah got 429. 945 votes were polled out of 1,350 voters including 150 lady lawyers whereas only one vote was cancelled by the election commission. Turn-out was 68 %.

It is pertinent to mention here that five executive members, finance & library secretary had already been elected un-apposed.
