The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is neither considering to lay off employees nor any funds have been allocated for golden handshake scheme in the airlines, PIA spokesman Danyal Gillani said on Saturday.
Clarifying a news item published in a section of press regarding laying off PIA employees through golden shake hand scheme, he said: “No such proposal is under consideration, nor has money been allocated for the purpose.”
It is regrettable that such rumours were being spread to create unrest among the staff of the national airline which was trying to recover from heavy losses. Meanwhile, he said for the appointment of new chief operating officer in PIA, few candidates were short listed for this post on the basis of their professional qualification and experience. And the PIA management is still in the process of finalising the selection of most appropriate candidate for the post. He said “No decision has been taken as yet.”
